South High Tech Club (SHTC), or just Tech Club, is a new free organization at Pueblo South that plans on doing things and changing stuff. That's right, we're not just here to take up more space on the annuals (if at all). We have tons of movies to watch daily, games to play, meetings to attend now and then, a yearly video festival to put on, websites to code, forums to post to, chats to chat about, and more. Just kidding. But honestly, we *do* do stuff. Sometimes.
You see, the severe lack of creativity and overall function in high school kills us. Every day we sit through the same classes, absorbing the same useless material over and over, meant solely to throw us into the confines of an average worker in an average society. Turns out some of us actually care about real education. So to make something of ourselves, we choose to keep education seperate from our schooling (just as Mr. Mark Twain promptly did).
Contrary to popular methods around our district, this *is* the twenty-first century. Currently South lacks enormously in anything to do with electronics. We are about five years behind the States and ten behind Japan. Yes, it sucks. But instead of just whining about it, we are attempting to make things better. We made a Video Studio. We have a Mac Pro workstation, and a G5 workstation soon to come. We've recieved many donations and learned plenty. But it isn't easy. At all. In fact, I'd go so far as to say none of it is worth it. But since this is a matter of principle, not results, Tech Club is here to stay, because I have full faith, as it's Co-founder, that South needs this club to make things happen, and if it wants to live up to half of what it claims to be, there had better be members of Tech Club.
